Hey, I’m Richard, and I love what I do! Literally, because I’m finally doing what I consider, and feel is my calling (better late than never!).
I have the joy each day of guiding, teaching, mentoring and sharing with people the amazing and enjoyable evidence-based self-care practice (and profound personal development tool) of Effortless Meditation. It’s a practice that is very simple and highly effective in supporting your physical, mental and emotional health & wellbeing, and it’s my goal and intent with Calm Health & Wellbeing to share all of its benefits with you.
My journey with meditation all started in 2011. Since then, I’ve been meditating daily, and for over a decade I practised mindfulness meditation. This truly changed me and my experience of life - no joke, it saved me. My life was so high in stress, including crippling anxiety and crushing panic attacks, but my meditation practice helped me reach the opposite state - one of calm and being at ease. It might sound unbelievable, but it’s not. I still experience what might be considered stressful situations, but I now have the foundation of skills to relate to those situations in a calmer, self-aware, grounded, more adaptable and resilient way.
Like all practices, my meditation has changed and evolved. In recent years I have studied and practised what is known as Effortless Meditation - it’s been a whole new game changer for me at a totally new level. This modern form of meditation is now my primary form of practice and is pivotal for my own self-care and ongoing growth. Its profound effects have benefited my wellbeing on every level: the way I see myself and my life, how I interact with others and the world at large, and how I respond to the environment around me.
My intention in establishing Calm Health & Wellbeing is to be a major contributor of evidenced-based self-care practices, personal growth coaching and development workshops within the wellness movement, especially within the workplace. I provide individuals within their workplace or community with education, engagement, and support to help empower them in sustaining and improving their physical, mental and emotional health & wellbeing. Effortless Meditation is one of the major and most effective tools I use in this work, and I’m excited to share it with you.
I strongly believe that it is not enough to study something and stop there. I’m committed to continually grow and learn. What has taken my desire to help people to a whole new level is my training in Personal Growth Coaching. This enables me to coach individuals, utilising and sharing the tools I’ve experienced firsthand in overcoming self-limiting mindsets -how I viewed myself, other people around me, and the world at large. Over 14 months and 550 hours of intensive study, plus my own ongoing self-development, truly honed my skills. Additionally, in the period of my studying Personal Growth Coaching I completed over 120 hours of 1-on-1 coaching sessions (and over 200 hours in total since) to help nurture and support people in personal change and growth. This process involves gently assisting individuals to identify and dissolve self-limiting beliefs, mental, emotional behaviours and habits that have been continually playing out within their lives, in most cases unconsciously. I do all of this to give individuals I work with the same benefits coaching has brought to my life. This is the major and very significant tool, along with Effortless Meditation, in all that I do to help others to enact change for their overall health and wellbeing.
