What is coaching?

Coaching is a partnership between a coach and client in a developmental, thought-provoking, exploratory and creative process that assists and inspires the client to maximise their personal or professional potential.

Mindset

Mindset is an established set of attitudes of a person or group concerning culture, values, philosophy, frame of mind, outlook and disposition. It may also arise from a person’s worldview or beliefs about the meaning of their life.

Personal Growth Coaching

While Personal Growth Coaching certainly embraces and incorporates the above definitions it also does this through the perspective and lens of the principles of Human Development which is a psychological framework that first arose in the 1950s from psychologists like Clare Graves, Robert Kegan, Abraham Maslow and Suzanne Cook-Greuter.

Human Development is the branch of psychology that studies the elements that help people live healthy and fulfilling lives. This field aims to understand the various changes individuals and their relationships go through as they continue to learn and grow throughout their life including the phases of adulthood (for example the 3 adult developmental stages of Human Development - the Individuated Self, the Transpersonal Self and the Unified Self).

How does it work?

This form of coaching is quite unique as we look to develop a very close working relationship with our client to help them clearly identify, explore, change and evolve for themselves from the self-limiting mental, emotional and dysfunctional behaviours and habits that continue to play out, in a lot of cases unconsciously, within their life. This supports them in growing beyond these mindsets, behaviours, and patterns in service of them fulfilling their personal and professional goals.

We assist our clients with this exploratory and self-discovery trek by slowly delving with them into their current life experiences so they may become fully aware and see, in some cases for the first time, their own patterns in certain life situations or interactions with others. We then use a vast array of tools to engage their ability to choose other more productive strategies, all to achieve satisfactory outcomes aligned with their goals. This offers the opportunity of the individual to create new beliefs (about themselves or others), behaviours and habits in line with who they want or would like to be moving forward.

The finer details

A coaching session is conducted live 1-on-1 or in a small pod of 4 people via Zoom, depending on the needs and desires of the individual. Sessions occur at a mutually agreed upon time and are 1.5 hours when working with individuals within their workplace - for new or emerging team leaders and or executives, or in the community, pricing and payment for a session is found in our store.

Where coaching is provided for teams or groups of people within the workplace these sessions are generally in the format of mini-workshops, or classes and the time will be dependent on the particular workshop or class that is requested. Details for these services are covered in our workshops section of this site and pricing and payment is within our store.

Some examples of what we can cover in our coaching sessions:

Stress Cycle - Understanding stress and how it shows up within your life plus the tools to address and manage it - like an ongoing Effortless Meditation practice, and the Emotional Processing Technique.

Treadmills - Treadmills are persistent cyclic ways of reacting in certain situations and to certain people based on a sense of being threatened, disrespected or undermined. Treadmills end without resolution or satisfaction, which then reinforces the behaviour that holds the treadmill in place. We go through the stages of the treadmills identified within your life and look to understand how and why they were created and the short-term and long-term strategies that go towards alleviating and eventually dissolving their influence.

H3 Psychological Profile System - This system covers the exploration of 3 core dimensions of our psychology. Each dimension has 4-character trait profiles, each providing an overview of the strengths, Achilles heel, common treadmills, and base fears that relate to that specific profile. This understanding is pivotal for individuals to understand and reflect upon their strengths, their future goals, and areas of focus within coaching.

Personal Growth Coaching can assist people to overcome the self-limiting and uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, emotions and dysfunctional behaviours and habits within their lives like self-worth and worthiness issues, self-doubt, procrastination, feeling lost or stuck, overwhelm and many more.

‘Only behave and live in ways in which you’d want others to live.’ Kant
